Paint & the environment

EGBS are aware of the environment conscious property owner and have access to high quality professional paints that have extreamly low VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds)... as will be required under European environmental regulations for 2010. These products have advanced rapidly over the last couple of years, some paints from the better manufacturers of these environment friendly products even outstrip many other quality paints, offering high adhesion to the surface but with high

resistance to grime. Low grime adhesion paint for exterior surfaces will keep your property looking clean longer as it helps stop grime to grip on the surface and also offering a high resistance to colour fade... all this while still allowing the walls to breath along with being more environment friendly.

Preparation and product quality:

Many people do not understand the difference that professional preparation of painted surfaces can make. Paint on poorly prepared surfaces can deteriorate rapidly, professionally prepared surfaces can make your painted finish last several times longer, this means your property will look better and be better protected from the elements for longer, also saving you money in the long run. In some cases proper preparation can be very simple to undertake although it can take time, yet it is common practice for many painting contractors not to do this properly, so you will need your property painted more often.

Pressure washing exterior surfaces

Washing down exteriors with a pressure wash is important because it removes salt and grime, that is why every exterior quote we supply has this included as an item in the breakdown. It seems surprising that many will pick a cheaper quote that doesn't include a pressure wash of surfaces to be painted because that way it seems cheaper. Not washing down... basically means you will be wasting the money you are spending. There is no point paying to have your property painted only to find it looks like you need to do it again a year or two later because it looks tatty, it does no good trapping salt and grime within the paint layers unless you want to pay more on exterior painting in the future. Paint on properties can start to peel and flake within a few weeks of being painted because they have not been pressure washed! It's fairly obvious when you think about it, how can paint stick to a layer of salt and grime? even worse... one that has probably built up over years.
